The Great American Canyon Band - Tumbleweed

The Great American Canyon Band has appeared here before with their folksy, heartwarming, Edward Sharpe - esque song "Song For The Rest". It was one of those tracks that became a go-to song on mixes for friends. Now, almost a year later they have two more tracks to share and you can get it on wax (in April). They may not put very much out, nor do they do it as often as I'd like, but I can say with certainty that I love everything I've heard from them thus far. Stream everything via soundcloud.

"Tumbleweed" is the first single released off of The Great American Canyon Band's debut LP due out next year. I spent a solid portion of 2011 being obsessed with their Wild Heart EP which is still available on bandcamp on a name your price basis. Their music is earnest, endearing, a little bit folky, and made by a married couple, Paul and Krystal Jean Masson, just playing the music they love.

Sometimes when you end up on a random bandcamp page you just know you're going to like what you hear. That's what I thought when I landed on The Great American Canyon Band just browsing folk tags on bandcamp. Their EP cover art gives off an Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes aestetic, but with less people. Their two song titles "A Song For the Rest" and "Wild Heart" seemed like songs I could like. The songs are sparse folk pop and exactly what you think "folk pop" from LA would sound like. Some effect pedals gather the background noise and the guitar is gently laid on top of that along with the vocals. Check out their website or stream/buy their EP on bandcamp.
