The Weeks - Brother in the Night

Andrew Combs - Devil's Got My Woman
I've been stuck on this album since it came out at the end of October. The twangy, yet soulful country album, revolves around heartbreak and has a tendency to get left playing on loop all day.

Among Savages - Cold Wind
Among Savages is 24 year old Nashville, TN based artist Peter Barbee. His debut record Wanderings of an Illustrative Mind was released almost two years ago, but this song just came across my radar via a Noise Trade Sampler. It's a warm crackling fire of a song despite the title, it's best played loud so you can dance around and enjoy the general sweetness of it all. "Baby, you've been on my mind, you're the only thing I want on this snowy night."

Wild Cub - Thunder Clatter
If you had to guess where the duo is from, Nashville would probably be one of the last locations you'd place them. But here we all are, clapping along to this tremendous track out of Nashville. Their 13 track album, Youth, is a great way to kick off the week. I highly recommend giving it a full listen.

Kopecky Family Band - Animal
Kopecky Family Band started in 2007 in Nashville. They have 3 EPs to their name, all of which were fantastic and has fans anxiously waiting for their first full length. Hopefully, the long wait means it'll be a good one. One of the reasons I was instantly attracted to them (besides the three part harmonies and warm folkiness) was what I found written on their bandcamp page about their track "Animal": One of the first songs we wrote as a band. We love the gang vocals at the end of this one. It is sassy while exploring the world of a woman's need to be known. If that's not enough to get you to listen I don't know what is. Also check out the video of their live performance at KEXP below.

Ben Glover - Trick of the Light
Sometimes slow and easy is what you need to get through your Monday and Ben Glover's "Trick of the Light" gives you just that. Glover grew up in Ireland but relocated to Nashville in '08, which provides an interesting new landscape for his songs. Somehow this song feels as calming as enjoying a beer on a patio at dusk. You can buy his music here.

Jessie Baylin - Leave Your Mark
In case you were missing the singer/songwriter, chick with a guitar, and interesting vocals (I know its been a whole week, maybe longer?) here is a good one to check out. She does a lot of writing with other well known people. She is currently living and working in Nashville and interesting fact, she is married to Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill. Her most recent tour was as an opening act for Marc Broussard. I am obsessed with this song. Very mellow and sweet. Skip to the one min mark if you don't want the interview.
