Alice Boman - Waiting

Everything about this song forces you to focus on remembering to breathe. It's a lovely gem from the Swedish Alice Boman. She recorded an EP, Skisser (means "Sketches" in Swedish), in her home that was never meant to be heard except by her. Somehow the songs have made it out, consider yourself lucky.
"I want you more than I need you, and I need you so bad."

Say Lou Lou - Fool of Me ft. Chet Faker

I had a dream that I could teach you how to love. I started listening to this song in a happy place, sun on my face and a drink in hand. By the end, I somehow ended up feeling like the jilted lover. How dare he.

Postiljonen - How Will I Know/All That We Had Is Lost

This is genius. A gorgeous stripped down version of Whitney Houston's "How Will I Know" plays out as a slow jam. It's perfect for blissfully staring out the window all afternoon with your headphones on. (via Line of Best Fit)

Amanda Mair - House

Let's offset this morning's depressing post with the latest Swedish pop darling. Amanda Mair has followed in the footsteps of the impossible not to love pop stars like Lykke Li, Oh Land, Jenny Abrahamson, Robyn and many others. It's straight forward pop with a beautiful girl and her beautiful voice. What else did you expect?

Niklas von Arnold - City Lights

This isn't something I'd normally post but I let soundcloud play some tracks for me this morning and this is what I took away from it. At first, I thought it was a James Blake type trying to pull off R. Kelly. But then it became it's own R&B jam with a good beat that I played on repeat a few times. All I know about the guy is he is Swedish and you can listen to more on the RecRecRecords soundcloud page. You can watch the video for City Lights here.

Here he is covering Van Morrison's "Crazy Love" too.

Buried in Bandcamp: King Melodies

People really liked the King Melodies "Fog over the Graveyard" that showed up on the halloween mix, which is pretty cool since it was just something I stumbled across during a bandcamp browsing session. King Melodies is a Swedish band that released their last EP, You Will Win, this past July on Ramberget Recordings. They have a new EP, Hang With Me, due out soon as well. You can download the EPs on a name your price basis. King Melodies lives up to the name with some catchy indie pop tunes worth checking out.

I'm From Barcelona - Always Spring

This is the second single the Swedish collective is releasing from their recently released album Forever Today. The entire album sounds like the type of song they use at the end of a romantic comedy movie when everyone is finally in love and happy and they are laughing at some punch line as they ride into the sunset in their red convertible. I'm From Barcelona is one of those bands you can consistently turn to for a pick me up. What I love most about this band is that the fact that it's a revolving group of over twenty people (27 I believe) that write these songs together and it always sounds like they had the best time just hanging out with their friends making music. There is also a brand new video to watch after the jump. "Somewhere it's summer, somewhere it's always spring."

Jennie Abrahamson - Hard to Come By

Holy moly and 1,000 other stronger expletives. This song blew me away, is currently blowing me away, I can't possibly play it loud enough, and it's worthy of obsession. Jennie Abrahamson is Swedish and makes beautiful pop songs that she releases on her own label, How Sweet the Sound. This particular song has been jumping up on charts all over Sweden and it's easy to see why between her sweet voice and the loud percussion, you won't be able to get enough of it. If you like Lykke Li, Oh Land....actually, scratch all that, if you like music, this is for you. Thank you Jennie, this is making my week.
For a slight change of pace you must watch this gorgeous stripped down version of the song featuring her friends Ane Brun and Elin Ruth Sigvardsson. It is stunning. (after jump)

Little Majorette - Overflow

While you probably haven't yet heard of Little Majorette, you have definitely heard of the bands the respective parts of Little Majorette are a part of. From Havana Guns, Miike Snow, and Lykke Li, these three aren't new comers to the music scene. This Stockholm based band made up of Zoe Durrant, Petter Winnberg and Nils Tornqvist somehow managed to find the time to record in a Stockholm studio between their travels. When they first started they had no intention of releasing these songs, but now there is news that an album will be out April 20th.
This first track they are sharing reminds me of Oh Land with an upbeat infusion of that irresistible Brit Soul/Pop sound like Paloma Faith or The Noisettes. It's a fun catchy track driven by the piano and Zoe's light but persuasive voice. They also have a bunch of videos on youtube including a song called "Let's Get Drunk" with clips from the Audrey Hepburn movie Sabrina. If you've ever read my twitter feed you'd know that I fully support this title, it also happens to be a splendid song with a lovely string arrangement "Let's pretend we are in love again/ Let's get drunk/To settle our nerves again/ let's get drunk." I have good feelings about this album. Look out for it.
